E Steps for Pride, Anger, Envy, Deceit and Discord

5. Pride
  • Opposite Virtue (1 Corinthians 13): Love is not proud or boastful.
  • Aligned "e consciousness" Principle: Empathy (humbling oneself to connect with others) and Esteem (valuing others above oneself).
  • Plan of Action:
    • Spiritual Participation: Serve in a low-profile role (e.g., cleaning at a place of worship) to practice humility and focus on others.
    • Deep Relaxation: Practice a guided humility meditation, visualizing yourself as part of a larger whole, equal to others in God’s eyes.
    • Prayer: Pray for humility and the ability to celebrate others’ successes. Example: “Teach me to walk humbly and value others above myself.”
    • Additional Activity: Write a letter of appreciation to someone, focusing on their strengths without mentioning yourself, to shift focus outward.
    • Outcome: Empathy and esteem for others replace pride with humility and genuine care.
6. Anger
  • Opposite Virtue (1 Corinthians 13): Love is not easily angered.
  • Aligned "e consciousness" Principle: Endure (remaining calm under pressure) and Empathy (understanding others’ perspectives).
  • Plan of Action:
    • Spiritual Participation: Attend a peace-focused worship service or retreat to cultivate inner calm and forgiveness.
    • Deep Relaxation: Practice deep breathing exercises (e.g., 4-7-8 technique) to calm the nervous system when anger arises.
    • Prayer: Pray for patience and the strength to release anger. Example: “Grant me peace to replace anger and understanding to see others’ hearts.”
    • Additional Activity: Keep a forgiveness journal, writing down situations that trigger anger and reflecting on how to respond with compassion.
    • Outcome: Endurance and empathy transform anger into patience and understanding.
7. Envy
  • Opposite Virtue (1 Corinthians 13): Love does not envy.
  • Aligned "e consciousness" Principle: Encourage (celebrating others’ successes) and Esteem (valuing others’ worth).
  • Plan of Action:
    • Spiritual Participation: Participate in a group activity where you can celebrate others’ achievements, such as a community event or team project.
    • Deep Relaxation: Practice a gratitude meditation, focusing on your own blessings to reduce comparison with others.
    • Prayer: Pray for a heart that rejoices in others’ blessings. Example: “Help me find joy in others’ success and trust in your plan for me.”
    • Additional Activity: Compliment someone daily on their achievements without comparing yourself, to build a habit of encouragement.
    • Outcome: Encouragement and esteem replace envy with genuine joy for others.
8. Deceit
  • Opposite Virtue (1 Corinthians 13): Love rejoices with the truth.
  • Aligned "e consciousness" Principle: Eliminate (removing falsehood) and Eternal (embracing lasting truth).
  • Plan of Action:
    • Spiritual Participation: Engage in a confession or accountability group to practice transparency and truthfulness.
    • Deep Relaxation: Practice a truth-focused meditation, visualizing yourself speaking and living authentically.
    • Prayer: Pray for courage to live in truth and integrity. Example: “Guide me to speak and act in truth, reflecting your love.”
    • Additional Activity: Commit to honesty in small daily interactions, such as admitting mistakes or being transparent about feelings.
    • Outcome: Eliminating deceit and embracing eternal truth foster authenticity and trust.
9. Discord
  • Opposite Virtue (1 Corinthians 13): Love always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres.
  • Aligned "e consciousness" Principle: Contains (fostering unity) and Encourage (building harmony).
  • Plan of Action:
    • Spiritual Participation: Join a peacemaking or reconciliation ministry to promote unity and understanding in your community.
    • Deep Relaxation: Practice a visualization meditation, imagining a peaceful resolution to conflicts in your life.
    • Prayer: Pray for unity and the strength to be a peacemaker. Example: “Help me sow peace and unity where there is discord.”
    • Additional Activity: Initiate a conversation to resolve a misunderstanding, approaching it with humility and a desire for harmony.
    • Outcome: Containing conflict and encouraging unity replace discord with peace and collaboration.
